WI-H03: Create a Google Play Developer account

WI-H03: Create a Google Play Developer account

Problem

Publishing to the Play Store requires a Google Play Developer account — a $25 one-off fee.

In scope

  • Create the account and pay the one-off fee.
  • Reserve the application ID.

Out of scope

  • Store listing, screenshots, content rating, release submission.
  • Google OAuth client IDs and SHA-256 fingerprints — those belong to WI-050 and do not require this account.

Definition of done

  • Account created and verified.
  • Application ID reserved and matching apps/mobile configuration.

Verification

The Play Console shows a verified account with the application ID reserved.

Notes

Lowest urgency of the five human-gated items. It blocks only Android store release. Development, internal testing via Expo, and Google sign-in itself all work without it.

Worth separating clearly from WI-H02: Apple’s fee is recurring and becomes compulsory via Guideline 4.8, whereas this is one-off and blocks nothing until you genuinely want an Android listing.
